Police in Samoa charge foreign businessman with rape

A foreign businessman in Samoa is facing one count of raping a 16 year-old girl who was an employee.

The assistant police commissioner, Leaupepe Fatu Pula, says the victim was allegedly raped by the accused in one of his houses.

The incident happened two days after he hired the victim.

He has appeared in court for mention but the case is further adjourned for the police to complete their investigations.

The name of the defendant has been withheld to protect the victim.
