NZ Presbyterians aid Kiribati and Tuvalu

A New Zealand church is calling for support for Kiribati and Tuvalu as they deal with the impact of climate change.

The Presbyterian Church of New Zealand has written to the New Zealand government indicating its interest in helping people at risk of being displaced by rising sea levels.

The Right Reverend Ray Coster says the church is well aware of the challenges Kiribati and Tuvalu face.

"Well obviously we can't create more land so we've got to look at ways of re-settling these people and it may well be that we as a church can help re-settle them here in New Zealand as well, but we may need Government assistance."

The Right Reverend Ray Coster says the Presbyterian Church is yet to hear from the government.
