American Samoa gets all clear after Cyclone Garry

2:18 pm on 24 January 2013

The Emergency Operations Centre has now given the all clear for American Samoa regarding tropical cyclone Garry.

Its last bulletin issued this morning cancelled the wind advisory for Manu'a.

However, high surf and small craft advisories are still in effect for the Manu'a group.

The office says reports from Manu'a are that winds have dropped below advisory levels.

Schools for Manu'a are closed today, but public schools on the main island, Tutuila resumed classes today.

The cyclone continues to move east towards Cooks Islands waters.

It is intensifying and anticipated to become a category three storm in the next 24 to 48 hours as it tracks towards the Southern Cook Islands.
