Flooding hits Apia

10:13 am on 14 January 2013

Less than a month after Cyclone Evan left parts of Samoa in ruins, a tropical depression has left parts of Apia under water.

The downpour flooded Savalalo, Saleufi, Vaimoso, Fugalei and Taufusi.

According to the Samoa Observer, the rising rivers also forced hundreds of people to evacuate.

A flood advisory, which has been in effect since Wednesday, remains.

But the Meteorology Office at Sogi yesterday assured the public there is no cyclone.

They said the tropical depression was moving away from Samoa towards Fiji.
