American Samoa adds to relief drive for Samoa cyclone victims

The American Red Cross unit in American Samoa has launched a relief drive to collect assistance from the community for Samoa's victims of Cyclone Evan.

The chairman of the local unit, Lolo Moliga, says while American Samoa was spared the wrath of Evan, the brothers and sisters in Samoa were unfortunately devastated by several days of the disastrous impact of the cyclone.

The drive was launched today by taking in donations of bedding, clothing, shoes, food, water and other essential items.

The local Red Cross until will collaborate with the American Samoa Chamber of Commerce and will be coordinating delivery and receipt of the relief assistance shipment with the Samoa Red Cross in Samoa.

Lolo says monetary donations will be also accepted.
