The All Blacks Sevens have won all three of their pool games in the second round of the rugby World Series in Dubai.
The New Zealand men beat Argentina 17-7, Russia 31-14 and Wales 14-7 to book a Cup quarter-final against surprise packages Portugal.
The Portugese edged England 22-21, shocked South Africa 12-10 before falling to pool winners Samoa, 24-19.
Samoa play Wales next. In the other Cup quarter-finals, Canada face Kenya and Fiji play France.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand women's rugby sevens team has had a big win and two tight draws on the opening day of their inaugural World Series tournament at Dubai.
They thrashed China 31-0 before drawing 12-12 with Russia, then also drew 12-12 with Canada to book second spot in the group behind Russia.
New Zealand now play England in the Cup quarter-finals.
