7:46 pm on 28 November 2012

American Samoa's governor-elect Lolo Matalasi Moliga has told a gathering of supporters his goal is to build a government in which the public can put their trust, confidence and hopes for a better future.

He says the government must work together with the public and it must treat everyone equally.

The governor-elect also says government services, jobs and programmes should be made available to everyone.

And he stresses the importance of transparency in government, saying the public should be informed and made aware of what its government is doing.

Lolo says some of the problems caused by differences between the Fono and governor arise from poor commmunication.
