Coffee farmers in Solomon Islands are calling on the government to consider providing more avenues for coffee to be marketable and exported overseas.

A vast majority of coffee is grown in the highlands of Central Guadalcanal, with farmers urging the government to look at means of helping them market the product.

Speaking to Solomon Star, a coffee farmer Robertson Kuli said that with no effective coffee buyer currently in the country, farmers are finding it hard to earn income for their families.

He said most of people in the highlands of Central Guadalcanal rely very much on their coffee products as it is the main source of income for their families.
