Sport: Pacific player numbers in the Northern Hemisphere on the rise

The Newcastle Falcons midfielder Tane Tui'polotu says he's noticed a big increase in the number of Pacific Islanders playing rugby in the Northern Hemisphere.

The 31 year old Tui'polotu was on the sidelines earlier this week as his club side played a midweek match against his birth country, Tonga.

The former Hurricane and Junior All Black says these days Pacific players are popping up everywhere.

"Every team we come across there will be one or two Pacific Island players amongst them. Even places like Italy and we go and play in Spain you do see one or two islanders still - there might be a Fijian or Tongan or one Samoan. They've all been sort of exported globally."
