SPC meets to consider regional approach to critical issues

4:03 pm on 12 November 2012

The Secretariat of the Pacific Community is advocating a consolidated, multi-disciplinary approach to regional issues such as food security, preventing non-communicable diseases and adapting to climate change

This week in Noumea the SPC's Committee of Representatives is discussing new approaches to addressing overlapping regional challenges.

The director-general, Dr Jimmie Rodgers, says these challenges require commitment from everyone, through effective partnerships and greater multi-sectoral collaboration.

He advocates a "many partners, one team approach".

Dr Rodgers says whole of government and whole of society approaches are the keys to achieving sustainable, long-term solutions.
