Sport: Fiji women's team rout NZ Samoans

Fiji women's coach Elenoa Kunatuba has praised her players after the Fijiana 'A' team romped to a 46-10 victory over the New Zealand Samoans at Buckhurst Park on Thursday.

Her New Zealand Samoans opposite, Nick Bakulich, believes Fiji have a good team but says women's teams in the Pacific need more competition and exposure if they're to be up to par with bigger rugby nations like Australia, New Zealand and France.

Elenoa Kunatuba also coached the Fiji Development side that lost to the visitors at the weekend and says that helped them prepare for the second game.

"It's just a shadow national team without our national sevens players so I was quite happy with the win. I think they deserved their win because we had more time to prepare and, coming off from the loss from the development side, we found out New Zealand Samoans weaknesses and strengths and we were able to capitalise on that."
