The Papua New Guinea Government is promising a less oppressive tax system for the country's citizens.

The Treasurer, Don Polye, also says company tax will come down.

The National reports he told Parliament last Friday that he would make a submission to the government after talking with the Minister for Commerce and Industry and the Minister for Agriculture.

He says he has given instructions to start the review of tax laws.

Mr Polye had been replying to the Oro Governor, Gary Juffa, who raised concerns that PNG is experiencing an economic boom but there have not been gains for the ordinary Papua New Guinean.
