The Ministry of Finance in Solomon Islands has assured headmasters that their school grants will be paid early this week.
Teachers across the country have threatened to shut schools from this week if the government fails to pay the annual grants.
The Under secretary for the Ministry of Finance, Elizabeth Kausimae says it has prepared the funds to be transfered to the Ministry of Education.
She says school headmasters who approached her on the matter have been assured that the grant money will be made available early this week.
