Solomons marks ten year link with Cuba in New York

Solomon Islands is marking its decade long bilateral relationship with Cuba with the launching of a set of stamps in New York.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Clay Forau, who is in New York for the UN General Assembly officiated in the ceremony together with other regional leaders' who also celebrated 10 years of diplomatic relations with Cuba today.

Solomon Islands Ambassador to Cuba and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Collin Beck, thanked Cuba for its growing engagement with the Pacific.

Mr Beck says the first batch of Solomon Islanders studying medicine in Cuba will graduate in 2014 and they are expected to return home to serve in the health sector.
