CNMI tourism stakeholders want improved tourism products

Tourism stakeholders in the Northern Marianas are calling for improvements in the CNMI product.

A strong and thriving tourism sector is seen as one of the few opportunities to turn the territory's economy around.

The chief executive of Century Tours, Willie Tan, says there is a need to constantly improve the Commonwealth's tourism products.

Mr Tan says the Northern Marianas have a lot of selling points, such as the great natural beauty, access under the visa waiver program, and proximity to primary markets like Japan, Korea, and China.

He says the islands have also developed a reputation as a shopping destination for high-end brands through DFS Galleria.

But Mr Tan says to draw more tourists, the CNMI must be able to provide better products and review what other destinations in the Pacific are doing.
