Sport: Japan searching for added momentum

Japan insist they won't be taking the foot off the pedal despite already securing a place in the semi finals of the World Cricket League 8.

The Chris Ferguson coached team have started strongly in Apia with wins over Suriname and Bhutan.

They meet Belgium on Wednesday with both sides already guaranteed a semi-final berth, but Ferguson says that won't alter the way they approach the match.

"It's all about momentum - if we play well and win that game it's even more momentum going into the semi final. If you're top of the pool you get arguably an easier semi-final. I say arguably because I think most teams here, in the top four, are pretty even so it's just about momentum going forward and we're looking to have a good one tomorrow."

Chris Ferguson says he will also be keeping an eye on the Vanuatu v Samoa match in Pool A, with both teams potential semi-final opponents.
