An American Samoa Culture Arts Academy has been set up by the Governor Togiola Tulafono.
One of its main purposes is to establish a Samoan Language Institute, where the language, and its origins, meanings, diction, grammar and usage will be studied extensively.
A Samoan-English words transformation institute will also be established to properly transform as many words as practicable from English into Samoan, and to compile a comprehensive Samoan-English dictionary.
With many technological changes which do not have Samoan translations the tendency has been to use a word that sounds very similar to the English term.
The academy is established as a non-profit, standalone statutory body.
