Rallies for both side planned in CNMI impeachment battle

Supporters and opponents of a resolution to impeach the Northern Marianas Governor, Benigno Fitial, intend holding separate rallies this Sunday.

The Commerce Secretary Sixto Igisomar, a staunch supporter of the Governor, said the organizers of the pro-Fitial rally would want to keep a 'safe distance' from the supporters of the impeachment move.

One of the organisers of the pro-impeachment rally, Brian Kendall, says the worst thing they can do is to stay silent.

He says everybody has reached the point where they can see the wreckage all around - the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation and the NMI Retirement Fund.

Mr Kendall says the list seems to grow longer every day.
