The Solomon Islands Central Bank has advised the public that counterfeit money is again circulating within the economy.
The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports the bank saying that fake 50 and 100 dollar notes are being presented.
It says the notes look genuine but lack the security features and the paper used has a different quality.
The Central Bank says people need to be careful and ensure they are familiar with the features of genuine notes.
It says the penalties imposed on counterfeiters include hefty fines and/or prison terms of up to 7 months.
