Fiji's Constitutional Commission hearings resume this week in Suva

3:57 am on 10 September 2012

Fiji's Constitutional Commission is to resume hearings this week in Suva, and hopes to hear from organised groups.

The Commission began hearings in Suva in late July, then moved to Nadi, and had received more than 300 submissions towards the end of last month.

Its chair, Professor Yash Ghai, says most of the submissions so far have been from individuals.

"We are anxious to hear from more organised groups, [the] business community, professional associations, religious groups, and NGOs and we are hoping that several of them will come to speak to us in Suva."
