Georgia and Fiji extend links

Fiji media is reporting that the Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili has backed the interim Fiji Government's Roadmap and Strategic Framework.

Fiji Live says he has also pledged Georgia's support towards education in Fiji by provide rural schools with 1,000 net-books.

This follows a meeting between Mr Saakashvili and Fiji's Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola in Georgia on Wednesday.

Speaking after the meeting, Ratu Inoke, says Georgia is keen on more cooperation between the two countries.

He says they discussed Fiji's progress towards free and fair elections in 2014.

And he says Mr Saakashvili also repeated an invitation for interim Fiji leader Commodore Frank Bainimarama to visit Georgia.
