Fighting students in Samoa expelled

12:35 pm on 3 September 2012

Two students from St. Joseph's College in Samoa who were involved in a fight with boys from Avele College have been expelled.

The director of Catholic Education, Aeau Chris Hazelman, says they have dealt with them quite harshly.

The fate of five other St. Joseph's boys involved in a separate incident involving students from Avele is yet to be decided.

They've been charged by Police and have appeared in court but the matter has been adjourned until January next year.

The Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi says that because of the inter-school violence he is seriously considering the reintroduction of corporal punishment.

Tuilaepa has several times urged principals to expel students involved in fighting.
