Two Tongan police officers charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of a New Zealand police officer are expected to appear in court today.
The Tongan police say Kali Fungavaka was assaulted in a police cell after being arrested on a minor drunkenness charge.
The two officers, Salesi Maili and Fatai Faletau, are understood to be appearing in court in Nuku'alofa today.
A civilian, Semisi Manu, who also allegedly assaulted Mr Fungavaka in the cell also faces a manslaughter charge.
