CNMI healh centre increases fees

An emergency regulation enforcing a new comprehensive schedule of charges and fees is now in effect at the Commonwealth Health Centre in the Northern Marianas.

Patients, insurance companies, and other clients of the public hospital will now see a significant increase in the fees they will have to pay.

The CHC has been using for years a system that not only assessed very minimal fees for services but there was also no cost at all for hospital supplies.

The Corporation's CEO Juan Babauta says the CHC will now be assessing fees on supplies-an item.

Former accounting manager, Esther Muna, who assisted the corporation in developing the new fee schedule, admitted that the fee increases are significant.

But she claimed that these are acceptable in the region after making a comparative analysis.
