Guam National Guard soldiers have received mobilisation orders to deploy to Afghanistan next year.
The National Guard says close to 600 soldiers will be sent as part of the infantry.
It says this will be the largest group of reserve troops to be mobilised and deployed from Guam.
Details are yet to be released but in April the soldiers received an official alert order, which allowed them to ramp up training for possible deployment to Afghanistan in 2013.
The people of Guam have been assured the soldiers will be well prepared and highly trained to be ready to go and accomplish their mission.
