Sport: Fiji keeping mum over closing flag bearer

7:13 am on 11 August 2012

With many athletes having finished competing, their last official role at the London Olympics will be attending Monday's closing ceremony.

Much like the spectacle that launched the two-week sporting feast, there will be music, performers and speeches, while the flame that was lit, will be extinguished.

Each country will also elect a flag bearer for the closing ceremony, based upon their efforts at the just completed Games.

Despite all his athletes having finished, Fiji's Chef de Mission Chris Yee wasn't about to let the cat out of the bag.

"We're keeping it under wraps at the moment - we're not releasing the name. There's a few that we're looking at and we have an idea who we want but I think we will give it to the last day to make sure that the athlete knows. I think it's exciting to let them know the last day rather than letting them know now."
