20 more years jail for American Samoan convicted of robbery and assault

An American Samoan convict who escaped from jail and assaulted a bank security guard has been sentenced to 20 years in jail.

Pati Lepou was convicted by a jury in May for first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and escape from confinement.

Lepou was serving time for burglary when he and three other convicts escaped from the Territorial Correctional Facility.

Lepou got 15 years more time in jail for robbery and 15 years for the assault to be served concurrently and five years for robbery and assault.

He continues to deny his involvement in the crimes.
