RIPEL chairman taking legal action again revocation of residential permit

7:37 am on 16 July 2012

The Australian chairman of the Solomon Islands company Russell Islands Plantations Limited is taking legal action after the immigration ministry in Honiara revoked his residence permit.

Patrick Wong has been embroiled in a long-running legal battle involving a deal with government to pay out RIPEL.

Mr Wong says his permit is valid until August next year.

He says he believes the move against him is politically motivated.

"The underlying message is quite simple. It would seem that this particular government, whenever there is a dispute and the dispute cannot be settled, they use this other type of means to declare people undesirable or prohibited."
