Sport: Fiji netballers keen for heavy international diet

Fiji are refusing to rest on their laurels after defending the Pacific Series netball title last week.

Fiji beat Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Cook Islands en route to the title in front of their home supporters in Suva.

This weekend they welcome Singapore for two further internationals and coach Una Rokoura says the extra matches are all part of their long term plan.

"We need to get more international matches here at home and also try and revive netball at home - especially the international team. Like I said after a good outing in the Pacific Series, and to have Singapore come in and accepting the invitation to play Fiji this week it boosts netball as a whole in the country and it also gives the players an opportunity to play a different style of game altogether."

Una Rokoura says Fiji have also accepted a reciprocal invitation to play in Singapore later this year.
