Leaders from the Northern Mariana Islands have met to discuss the return of CNMI employees to United States Social Security.
The CNMI delegate to the United States Congress Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan met separately with the CNMI Governor Benigno Fitial and Lieutenant Eloy Inos yesterday.
According to the Marianas Variety, Governor Fitial has asked Mr Inos to lead the initiative of bringing the Retirement Fund's active members into US Social Security.
Mr Sablan has told reporters that they discussed HR 4338, a bill that allows the CNMI to repair military vessels.
Mr Fitial says he supports the measure and Mr Sablan says he and Governor Fitial have agreed to lobby for its passage in the US Senate where it is now pending.
