Vanuatu leader says education the way to achieve sustainable development

The Vanuatu Prime Minister, Sato Kilman, says quality education is unequivocally the fastest way to achieve sustainable development.

He has told the Pacific Islands Forum's Education Ministers' meeting in Port Vila that for Pacific societies education is the fastest way to fight the hardships faced by many people.

He says education can provide opportunities for citizens to achieve economic productivity for themselves, their community and countries.

The prime minister says this will also lead to improvements in health and hygiene, while education also offers the best chance for individuals to improve self confidence, self development and claiming their rights.
