The secretary general of the Vanuatu Republican Party and the Minister of Education, Marcellino Pipite, has won a court case against his suspension from the party by the party president, Maxime Carlot Korman.

The court found the suspension of Mr Pipite and his executive null and void.

The court ruling also said Mr Korman and the party's national council were in contempt of court by ordering the suspension.

Mr Pipite says he challenged his suspension to ensure the party's constitution prevails at all times.

Justice Daniel Fatiaki has ordered Mr Korman to pay Mr Pipite 5,500 US dollars compensation.
