Fiji Trades Union Congress president Daniel Urai who is charged with urging political violence, has been given the nod to attend a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

Defence lawyer Navinesh Nand had applied for Urai's bail conditions to be changed to allow him to attend the meeting.

Yesterday, Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili granted Mr Urai leave from May 13-19. His reporting conditions were suspended until he returns.

He said Urai has to deposit a cash bond of over 500 US dollars and arrange a suitable surety to enter into a bond of over 2,700 US dollars to ensure his return.

His travel documents are to be surrendered to the Court by May 21.

Fiji Live online says Trade unionist Rajeshwar Singh appeared in court as surety for Mr Urai late yesterday afternoon.
