Three police officers with gunshot wounds in Samoa

12:47 pm on 7 May 2012

Three police officers received gunshot wounds during a police drug raid in the early hours of this morning at Faleatiu village in Samoa near Apia.

Our correspondent Autagavaia Tipi Autagavaia says one is in a serious condition and they're all being treated at the emergency department at Tupua Tamasese Meaole hospital.

He says police will release more information at a press conference this afternoon.

"Unconfirmed sources said that there was a shoot-out between police and people involved living on this particular land when the drug raid took place."

Autagavaia Tipi Autagavaia says Faleatiu village has been the target of police investigations as one of the main sources of cannabis.
