The Solomon Islands opposition leader has called on the Prime Minister to disclose the monthly rental cost he has incurred while staying at the Honiara Hotel.
The Solomon Star reports the opposition's Dr Derek Sikua as saying the Prime Minister's Office has attempted to evade disclosing how much the state is spending on Gordon Darcy Lilo's accommodation.
He says the Prime Minister must not sidestep informing the public of the cost.
Dr Sikua says taxpayers are interested to know how much of their hard earned money is being spent on financing the Prime Minister's lifestyle.
He says it is hypocritical of the prime minister to talk about instilling financial discipline in the government when he is incurring unnecessary costs for the state.
