High profile members of Fiji Native Land Trust Board to reappear in court

Three high profile members of the Fiji Native Land Trust Board will reappear in the High Court in Suva today.

Former Fiji prime minister and the Board's chairman Laisenia Qarase, former general manager Kalivati Bakani, and former director Keni Dakuidreketi are expected to enter a plea.

Mr Qarase faces two counts of abuse of office, Mr Bakani faces one count of abuse of office, Mr Bakani and Mr Dakuidreketi face four counts of fraudulent conversion.

The case will be called for mention for a plea to be taken and to hear any issues that the defence may have in relation to the consolidated information.

Fiji Live online reports in the previous court sitting the court heard that disclosures had been served from Fiji's Independent Commission against Corruption prosecution, and the defence counsel had informed the court they sought further time to review all documents.
