Samoan flag burning accused pleads not guilty

The 31-year-old Samoan man charged of willfully damaging a Samoan flag by setting it on fire has pleaded not guilty.

Fa'atuai Tapuaiga Paepae, of Mulivai, Safata appeared for mention before the District Court this morning.

Fa'atuai was accused of wilfully damaging the flag which is the property of the government and also of assaulting a man who tried to stop him from burning it in front of the Government Building.

A hearing has been scheduled for August the 1st.
