A crop of black tea from Hawaii is being labelled the world's best by some tea lovers in London, known as the black tea capital of the world.

At $7790 US dollars per pound the Big Island Tea Company has sold its first batch of leaves to the luxury retailer, Harrods of London.

Tea connoisseurs in London have described the tea as stunning, distinctive and the finest black tea ever.

The leaves are hand-picked, hand-rolled and hand-fired by Eliah Halpenny, who owns Big Island Tea with her husband, Cam Muir.

Big Island Tea has now signed an exclusive deal with Harrods.
