Nauru and Cuba agree to co-operate in sports and physical education

Nauru has signed an agreement with Cuba to build links in the field of physical education and sports.

The ACN Cuban News Agency reports that Nauru's Minister of Health, Sports and Education, Valdon Stanley, has been in Havana where he signed an agreement with the Cuban Sports Institute.

Mr Stanley has told local media about Nauru's need to increase sports activities and education, and have professional Cuban coaches to increase the training of athletes of that nation.

Nauru and Cuba will contribute to boost programmes for the training of athletes and coaches, academic exchanges, the creation of sports facilities and equipment.

Other areas of co-operation will be sports medicine, anti-doping control, sports administration and information technology applied to sports.
