New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully says his government would like to see Papua New Guinea go to national elections as originally scheduled.
Reports from PNG indicate the coalition government of Peter O'Neill may move again to defer the elections scheduled by the Electoral Commissioner for June.
Some high-profile calls from Australia's government encouraging PNG not to defer elections have been rebuffed by the O'Neill government.
Mr McCully says New Zealand is trying to be supportive of efforts to hold the elections on time.
