American Samoa appoints broadband firm

The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority has appointed a California company to support and implement its Broadband Linking the American Samoa Territory Project.

Under the initiative the company will deliver ubiquitous advanced broadband services across the islands of American Samoa.

The Calix Unified Access Portfolio and Calix Professional Services of Petaluma has been awarded the contract for the 91 million US project, funded by the United States Rural Utilities Service broadband initiative programme.

The Calix Professional Services team will serve as the program manager for the broadband project, working with key members of Calix Compatible Solutions Assurance Program to manage the various components of the network build.

The team will also provide network engineering, furnishing, and installation services.
