New airline to service Samoa's Savai'i

4:09 pm on 30 March 2012

Airline services to Savaii Island in Samoa are being revived.

Samoa Air, owned by former Polynesian Airlines pilot Chris Langton and his family, will link Upolu and Savai'i.

It will also offer direct flights from Savai'i to American Samoa, along with sightseeing.

Flights to Savai'i had previously been provided by Polynesian but were dropped because of a lack of profitability.

Mr Langton is in Fiji to arrange for the delivery of two aircraft bought off Air Pacific.

The airline is set to start operations on the 1st of May.
