Organisers of this year's annual Festival of Pacific Arts, being held in Solomon Islands, say poor weather is holding back some construction work.
The festival will be held in Honiara in the first two weeks of July and will be the 11th since the event's inception in 1972.
The Manager of the Human Development Programme at the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Linda Peterson, who is overseeing the preparations says good progress is being made but heavy rain this week is causing delays at some of the facilities.
"Well we can't control the weather as you know. Work on some of the construction sites has stopped for a while and so these sorts of things are going to be an issue, something that we can't control."
Linda Peterson says the Solomon Islands Prime Minister has announced all festival preparations should be ready by early June.
