CEO of Samoa's Bureau of Statistics faces drink driving charges

The police in Samoa have charged the head of the Bureau of Statistics with driving while under the influence and careless driving causing injuries.

Sefuiva Reupena, who was driving a government vehicle on the night of the accident, collided with a private vehicle causing injuries to a female driver.

The police say the government car has been written off as a result of the accident.

The government has set out guidelines for the use of public funded vehicles by all its officials.

Sefuiva Reupena will appear in court on April 17.
