An independent French Polynesian assembly member has hit out at the vice president Antony Geros for suggesting that the territory will rather die standing up than go down on its knees for France.
Sandra Levy Agami issued a statement after last week's collapse of talks between Paris and Papeete on public sector cuts when Mr Geros reneged on an earlier undertaking to sell the territory's flagship property in Paris.
Ms Levy Agami says he should stop masking his own incompetence by blaming for France for all ills.
She says everybody knows that his pro-independence Tavini Huiraatira Party is in power because the Tahoeraa Huiraatira Party chose to oust Gaston Tong Sang.
Ms Levy Agami says the government shows little care that the country is day after day in an unprecedented disarray, with one business after another shutting down.
