Sport: Samoa A thankful for tough build up

A thorough build up is paying dividends for Samoa A ahead of their second round match against the Junior Waratahs on Thursday.

The Samoan team was well beaten on the scoreboard in matches against New South Wales and Sydney University last month, after arriving in Australia a couple of weeks early.

Coach Selefuti Patu says those matches gave the team time to address problems with their set pieces and breakdown before last week's opening round win against the Brumby Runners.

He says the Junior Waratahs team they face today has a number of players and the same coach from the Sydney University team, so they feel well prepared going into the game.

"Every day, every practice seems to move forward a bit so it's really nice. We have a good feeling we will give the Waratahs a good match. I think our boys they work hard on their weaknesses and if we do better in that area I think then we can have another win."

Tonga A are also in action on Thursday against Queensland A in Brisbane.
