Vanuatu's ACP meeting on track

The organisers of a major international meeting expected to attract as many as 600 delegates to Vanuatu are confident everything will be ready by June.

Port Vila will host representatives from nearly 80 African, Caribbean and Pacific states, and 27 European Union states as they hold a series of joint meetings.

Late last year, the ACP secretariat expressed concern that Vanuatu might not be ready in time.

The meeting's coordinator, Lennox Vuti, says an 800-seat conference venue, the biggest in the region, is on track.

"The police have started doing their rehearsals, so they'll be looking at that. While we want to upskilll [them] a little bit, we are mindful that we don't want to put out a big show that we have a police issue here."

Lennox Vuti says he has been assured there will be enough hotel rooms and flights for all the delegates.
