TI alarmed at SOE suspensions by PNG government

Transparency International Papua New Guinea has expressed alarm at the recent suspensions of the heads of key public organisations.

It says the Peter O'Neill government must exercise good governance and adhere to properly accountable and transparent processes.

The government has been suspending or removing chief executives of state-owned enterprises, some of whom Transparency says had been performing quite well.

The watchdog group says if there were failings then these should be made public so the government's actions are accountable and transparent and not lead to undue speculation.
