The three Samoan fishermen who were rescued by the cruise ship Seabourn Odyssey on Sunday say they never lost faith in God that they would one day be reunited with their families.
In the two weeks they were drifting at sea in their alia, the three survived by eating fish, which they laid out in the sun to dry.
Oli Faavae, Sailigi Simi and Tuitea Talavou say they sucked rain water that fell on the top of the boat, or wherever they could find it because they didn't have buckets.
They say when they were desperate, they drank sea water.
Mr Talavou says they tried to conserve the fish they had as much as possible by eating just a little each day.
The fishermen's problems began when they encountered bad weather on their first day, then their compass malfunctioned and the engine failed.
They drifted for days, but say they prayed continuously for divine guidance.
