Gale force wind warnings remain in place for parts of Tonga after cyclone Jasmine caused flooding around the main island of Tongatapu yesterday.

The cyclone is moving in a north northwest direction and is expected to gradually ease within the next 24 hours.

Strong winds and heavy rain are still expected to affect the Tongatapu, Vava'u, and Ha'apai groups this morning.

Flooding of low lying coastal areas could also occur in those areas.
